Put a Ring on it

someone once told me that it's bad luck if you buy a ring for yourself
apparently, rings are meant to be bought for you...

i have been obsessing about baobao wan's yellow diamond butterfly citrine ring ever since i first laid my eyes on it. i have always had a thing for yellow diamond...something about the rarity and golden sparkle of yellow diamond just connects to me

love love love the Jagger Trilogy Ring by Macha Jewerly! the rugged texture, the subtle shine of the metals, the genius design is what makes the ring so unforgettable, unbreakable, and 100% adorable

Bazaar recently feature the bedazzling YSL ring. at first it seemed absurd.. but i soon changed my mind. the coral stone sits firmly within the golden fist. captivated and insulated from everything else

saving the best for the last...my beloved Daivd Yurman engagement ring. anyone propose with this ring, i will say yes. no questions asked...

I propose that we forget about the cliches, and put a ring on ourselves whenever we feel like it

Olivier Theyskens' Nina Ricci

The fashion world was blessed to have Olivier Theyskens. he gave birth to these compelling, dramatic yet endlessly romantic gowns!

the elegant french silhouette, the satin draping, the unparalleled cut, the intricate detailing, the irresistible marriage of sexiness and romanticism are more than enough to make me gasp

he's a dreamer. an anti-capitalist, an artist.

to me, he's incapable of doing wrong.. just as Alber Elbaz for Lanvin.

it was tragic to learn that his contract with Nina Ricci was not renewed.
Peter Copping from Louis Vuitton is the newly appointed hem designer for the house...

i might not have the authority to judge.. what i do know is that it did not take my breath away..

club monaco

...is what i often refer to as.. my store.
a sizable portion of my closet is comprised of CM's urban simplicity.
this is not to say i don't have the taste for lanvin or jil sander. rather it is in my belief that club monaco has done a marvelous job in grasping the idea of modern chic and offering them at an affordable price.

just recently, cm introduced the "courtney" bag. weather or not it is reminiscent of chanel's 2.55 is for you to decide. the gold chain strap is all too familiar. countless designers have introduced the amiable chain strap to their handbag collection, but none comparable to the 2.55.

i dont know what is stopping me from getting on the wait-list for "courtney".
i like the ruffled soft leather texture. the size is appropriate. the price is reasonable.

perhaps i just don't like the idea of owning a "resembling" piece rather than the original? is it utterly intolerable to wear a tweed blazer that doesn't have the chanel tag? to run around in a pair of red-sole stilettos other than louboutins? or we can all wear whoever we want regardless of the design of origin? i am not talking about the obsessive need to wear head-to-toe labels, but rather my questionable uphold of only owning the pioneer in design?
